Elora-Werkzeugfabrik GmbH was founded in 1924 by Erich Rauch Senior, at
Birker Weg 4 in Remscheid/Lüttringhausen, which is in the heart of the
German Tool Industry. Despite the economical problems in Germany at the
early part of the 20th Century, Erich Rauch Senior started to
manufacture Stilson Pipe Wrenches, Chain Pipe Wrenches and Swedish
Pattern Pipe Wrenches, in the cellar of his parents home. |

In 1928, as
his business grew, he purchased land next to his parents home at Birker
Weg 5 and built a plant with larger manufacturing capacity, which
included for the first time packaging facilities to meet the
requirements of his fast expanding business. At the beginning of the
1930's, Elora employed 12 people and continued to grow, up to the
beginning of the second World War.

After the war, Erich Rauch only had 11 employees, but to meet the ever
increasing demand for Elora products and the expansion of his range of
products which included plumbing tools, pipe cutters, open ended
spanners, made from chrome vanadium steel, and tubular box spanners, he
again extended his manufacturing facilities. When, in 1948, the new
"Deutsch Mark" was introduced, the demand for Elora products grew. The
company expanded from 28 employees in 1948, to 42 in 1950 and 133 in
1955. During this time spanners, tool boxes, tool cabinets and
adjustable spanners were introduced to the Elora range.

Due to the
growing difficulty to find qualified labour in Remscheid, in 1958 Elora
opened a second plant at Münk/Eifel which still continues to be an
important part of the Elora production programme. |
|
The two sons
of Erich Rauch joined the company as shareholders in the early 1960's,
Karl-Herman in 1960 and Erich Junior in 1963. |

The company
continued to expand its manufacturing facilities at the Remscheid site,
which were completed in time for the 60th anniversary of Mr. Erich
Rauch.
|
|
In
1984, this expansion has continued until the present day with a current
range of some 4600 lines. After the death of the founder, Erich Rauch,
in May 1986, his two sons, Karl-Herman and Erich Rauch, continued to run
the company being appointed Managing Director.
In 1994, the commercial, warehouse and packaging departments moved into
a bigger and more modern building in Remscheid/Blaffertsberg.

|
|
In 1998 the
third generation in the persons of Mrs Bettina Rauch-Lach and Mr Andreas
Rauch, joined the company and on the sad and unexpected passing away of
Karl-Herman in August 2002, Andreas Rauch was promoted to General
Manager.
Today Elora, with its modern plants at Remscheid and Münk/Eifel, and a
workforce of 155, combine to give a product range manufactured to the
highest quality.
Elora "MADE IN REMSCHEID" will always be a synonym for the highest
quality
